The Road Less Gravelled
Her heart craves acreage
as an escape when it
is heavy – which is most
days.
Although the sun shines
upon her brow, she feels
exhausted like a fish who
swims all day long against
the current.
A burly gray cloud threatens
rain, but she keeps smiling
until it dissolves and
whimpers disappearing
across the horizon.
She sets out walking down the
road less gravelled to enjoy
the fresh air and her own
peace of mind.
